Two Flyers win state titles at Washington State Trampoline and Tumbling Championships

Hailee Blau and Amelia Berner, competing for the Moving & Grooving Island Flyers, captured state titles in the Washington State Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Renton Saturday, May 1.
Although they fielded one of the smallest squads in the competition, the Flyers finished second in the team competition in Level 3-6 trampoline, fifth in tumbling in all levels and sixth in Level 3-6 double mini. The tournament included over 180 athletes from Levels 3 through elite.
Blau was a double winner, taking the Level 4 trampoline and double mini. She was also second in level four tumbling.
Berner was first in Level 6 trampoline and second in Level 6 tumbling.
Amaya Rittierodt placed second in Level 6 mini and third in Level 6 trampoline.
Kelly Gruenwald was second in Level 4 trampoline.
The Flyers earned thirds from Juliet Aspery, Level 5 trampoline; Lauren Aspery, Level 4 tumbling; Lilly Hammitt, Level 4 trampoline; and McKenzie Meyer, Level 5 tumbling.
Berner, Rittierodt, Meyer and the Asperys qualified for the Junior National Championships for Levels 5-10 in Virginia Beach in July.
Several team members will travel to Nampa, Ida., in two weeks for the Region I Championship.
