WIRC members dominate Eagle Run

Whidbey Island Running Club members swept the top three spots in the women's 5K division of the Holland Happening Eagle Run Saturday, April 24, at Windjammer Park.

Christina Wicker, 15, 20:35; Laura Rodeheffer, 10, 20:39; and Olivia Meyer, 14, 21:03; went 1-2-3 in the women's race which featured 91 runners. Wicker's time was a 5:32 mile pace.

On the men's side in the 5K, WIRC members captured four of the top seven spots among 109 runners: John Rodeheffer, 13, 17:14, finished second; Bill Rodenheffer, 51, 18:13, finished fourth; and Caley Powers, 14, and Dakota Powers, 12, tied for sixth, 18:21.

Other WIRC females finishers in the 5K: 7th, Kaitlyn Chelberg, 12, 21:03; 9th, Carolynn Wicker, 11, 22:18; 10th, Jonalyn Horn, 12, 22:35; 14th, Hannah Kagey, 13, 23:41; 19th, Megan Maronde, 13, 26:45; 27th, Heather Dale, 15, 28:01; 29th, Elisabeth Jenkins, 14, 28:23.
