Girls golf: Oak Harbor 7th out of 20 teams at Burlington Invitational

The Oak Harbor High School girls golf team finished seventh out of 20 schools at the Burlington-Edison Invitational at the Skagit Golf and Country Club Monday, April 19.

Life Christian Academy won the event with a stroke total of 357. The Wildcats finished with 417, just one shot behind Glacier Peak and just eight out of third.

Oak Harbor's Melany Cone posted the ninth best individual score by carding a 92.

Kristen Rue, Life Christian; Jessica Davis, Bellingham; and Zoei Zbaraschuk, Sequim; tied for first with 77s.

Ashley Johnson fired a 102 and Simone Hamilton a 108 over 18 holes for the Wildcats.

Millie Goebel shot a 52 and Mara Cortez a 62 in the nine-hole competition.

The Wildcats compete at Gleneagle against Arlington and Snohomish today, April 20, at 3 p.m.

Oak Harbor travels to the Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville tomorrow, April 21, to take on the host Tomahawks and Cascade in its third match in three days.

The 'Cats don't return home until Thursday, May 6, to play against Everett and Stanwood at 3 p.m.
