Sultan built a 6-0 lead and hung on to defeat the host Coupeville fastpitch team 7-6 Monday, April 19.
The Wolves trimmed the gap to 7-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh, scored a run and had a runner aboard with one out but couldn't complete the rally.
Coupeville (0-8, 1-8) out-hit the Turks 15-8 and rapped five extra-base hits but couldn't pull out the win against Sultan (3-6, 3-7).
Bessie Walstad had a bit day for the Wolves. She went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, run and RBI.
Alexis Trumbull added a double and Grace LaPoint a triple.
The Wolves go to South Whidbey (5-3, 5-4) Wednesday and then return home Friday, April 23, to face Cedarcrest (5-4) at 4 p.m.
