The Coupeville soccer team jumped back on the winning track with a 3-0 win at Granite Falls Thursday, April 15.
The Wolves struck early against the Tigers (0-9, 1-10) as Ben Hayes scored off an assist from Spencer Tack in the 13th minute.
Two minutes later, Nevin Miranda scored off another Tack assist.
In the second half, Tony Jensen finished the scoring in the 51st minute; Hayes provided the assist.
Evan Ameluxem-Coleman manned the goal in the first half and Isaac Wacker in the second to record the shutout.
Coach Paul Mendes said, "We got going early and took advantage of those early opportunities."
Because of injuries, Mendes has experimented with lineup changes and is pleased with how the players receiving extra time are "stepping up" to the challenge.
The Wolves (5-4, 5-5) host Friday Harbor at 3:30 today, April 16, in a makeup nonleague match. Coupeville resumes league action Tuesday, April 20, at Archbishop Murphy (6-3, 6-4).
