Girls golf: Cone earns medalist honors as Oak Harbor finishes second

The Oak Harbor girls golf team played a solid match, finishing second out of three teams at the Cedarcrest Golf Course Wednesday, April 14.

Host Marysville-Pilchuck edged the Wildcats 230-220 in the 18-hole match played with modified Stableford scoring. Lake Stevens finished with 169.

Oak Harbor's Melany Cone shot a career best 57 points to earn medalist honors.

Cone was followed in points by Ashely Johnson with 50, Simone Hamilton with 40, Millie Goebel with 37 and Sasha Olson with 36.

Oak Harbor coach Andy Wesley said, "The girls team, as a whole, performed the best they have this season."

The Wildcats will play in the Burlngton-Edison Invitational at the Skagit Golf and Country Club Monday, April 19.
