Tennis: Oak Harbor suffers another close loss

Oak Harbor High School's girls tennis team suffered another close loss, dropping a 4-3 match at Cascade Wednesday, April 14.
The Wildcats are 1-6 for the season, and half the losses have been by one point.
The difference Wednesday came in the first singles match where the Bruins' Jessica Willmorth edged Cady O'Dell in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
Oak Harbor easily won the three other singles matches: No. 2, Erin Neilon, 6-2, 6-3; No. 3, Laurin Rico, 6-1, 6-1; and No. 4, Clarissa Abadesco, 6-3, 6-0.
Oak Harbor lost all three doubles matches in straight sets: No. 1, Jordan Faralan/Kerry Rathsabanhdith 2-6, 1-6; No. 2, Shannon Neilon/Alexa Holmly, 5-7, 0-6; and No. 3, Jennifer Bower/Cassandra Gianino 2-6, 3-6.
Coach Horace Mells said, "The doubles have improved their play but were not able to produce a win."
Cascade is now 2-5.
The Wildcats play Snohomish (6-1) at Oak Harbor High School Friday, April 16, at 3:45.
