Host Stanwood defeated the Oak Harbor boys soccer team 6-1 Friday, April 9.

The Wildcats picked up their first goal of the season on a penalty kick by Michael Shevchuk. Greg Wolfe was fouled in the penalty area, which set up Shevchuk's score.

Coach Brian Thompson said, "We passed much better in this game and had many nice connections."

Thompson added that the Wildcats were hampered by the Spartans' (4-3-2) quickness. He said, "Their speed in the midfield and up front was too much for our young players."

Oak Harbor (0-8) will get some help with the return of injured Marcos Anjos Tuesday, April 13 when the Wildcats go to Monroe (2-3-2).
