Five Whidbey Island Running Club members win divisions

Five members of the Whidbey Island Running Club won their divisions at the Tulip Run Classic Saturday, April 10.

Megan Keating won the girls 9-10 division in the two-mile run (17:03). Four took blue ribbons in the five-mile race: Laura Rodeheffer, girls 9-10, 34:14; Ryan Vasileff, boys 9-10, 35:34; John Rodenheffer, boys 11-13, 28:10; and Christina Wicker, girls 14-17, 34:39.

The Rodeheffers were third overall among all female and male runners.

Others who placed second: MacKenzie Reed, 8-and-under girls two-mile, 15:48; Justin Vasileff, 8-and-under boys two-mile, 17:15; Kaitlyn Chelberg, girls 11-13 five-mile, 37:28; and Olivia Meyer, girls 14-17 five-mile, 36:40.

WIRC picked up two thirds: Catherine Wicker, girls 8-and-under two-mile, 17:13; and Jonalynn Horn, girls 11-13 five-mile, 38:04.

Others who competed for the WIRC in the two-mile boys race were Christian Vasileff, 9-10, 17:15; Michael Fisken, 9-10, 18:14; and Trevor Sanders, 11-13, 15:09.

Two others competed in the five-mile race: Carolynn Wicker, girls 11-13, 38:04; and Miguel Guzman, boys 11-13, 42:01.

The races took place on flat, gravel paths at the Skagit Regional Airport.
