League-leading Archbishop Thomas Murphy scored on a rebound to nip the host Coupeville boys soccer team 3-2 Tuesday, March 30.
The Wildcats' Matt Fryer's breakaway shot bounced off Coupeville goalie Evan Ameluxen-Coleman, then Fryer punched in the rebound for the game-winner.
Coupeville jumped out early when Justin Adams scored off an assist from Tony Jansen in the fifth minute.
After two ATM goals, Jansen, with an assist from Spencer Tack, tied it up in the 43rd minute.
Coupeville coach Paul Mendes said, "We played some of our best soccer of the season against one of the top teams in the league. We were in this game and played hard right to the end. Playing a team like AMHS will help raise our game."
Archbishop Murphy (3-1), the preseason Cascade Conference favorite, raised its league record to 3-0. The Wolves are 1-2 and 1-3.
Sultan (1-2, 1-4) visits Coupeville Thursday, April 1, at 6 p.m.
