The Wildcat girls golf team finished second in a three-team match at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club Wednesday, March 24.

Monroe won the match with 136 points, six more than Oak Harbor. Cascade trailed with 14. Modified Stableford scoring was used in the 13-hole match.

Oak Harbor was led by Simone Hamilton's 34 points, which earned medalist honors.

Hamilton was followed by Sasha Olson with 33, Melanie Cone with 30, Millie Goebel with 18 and Mara Cortez with 15.

Coach Andy Wesley said, "Our team showed a willingness to win yesterday and I’m proud of their effort. Sasha stepped up and played really well. We were missing our number one golfer, Ashley (Johnson) and only lost by six strokes."

Johnson missed the match because she was on a family vacation.

The Wildcats do not play again until April 14 when they travel with Lake Stevens to Marysville-Pilchuck for a match at Cedarcrest Golf Course.
