The Oak Harbor High School girls golf team welcomes back a handful of members this year who should make the Wildcats a strong competitor in the Wesco North.

Senior Ashley Johnson, who competed at state last year, will be joined by senior letter winners Melany Cone and Simone Hamilton and junior letter winners Millie Goebel, Mara Cortez and Sasha Olson.

Coach Andy Wesley said, “With so many returning players having numerous years of experience, I expect we will be competitive in league this year.”

Last season the Wildcats placed sixth in the Wesco North and sent six golfers to the district match.

Wesley sees Marysville-Pilchuck and Snohomish as the preseason favorites.

Oak Harbor competed in a jamboree March 9 and hosts the Gallery Shootout on the local Navy course Tuesday, March 16, at 9 a.m.
