Coupeville's girls basketball team outscored LaConner over the final three periods but still lost 47-37 on the Braves' court Tuesday.
The Wolves "won" the last three quarters 36-29 but couldn't overcome a disastrous start.
LaConner sprinted to an 18-1 first quarter lead and was up 20-1 when the Wolves began to work themselves back into the game.
Megan Smith popped in eight second-quarter points and Coupeville trimmed the gab to 23-15 before the Braves went into the break with a 27-15 margin.
Smith ended the game with 13 points, nine coming off three 3-pointers. Marie Hesselgrave scored nine for the Wolves, Cassidi Rosenkrance eight, Kendra O'Keefe six, and Courtney Arnold one.
The loss was Coupeville's first after starting the year with two wins. It was LaConner's season opener.
The Wolves host Chimacum Friday at 4 p.m. and Meridian Saturday at 5:15.
