An injury stopped Oak Harbor's Derek Thomas in the Western Conference district tennis tournament Wednesday in Stanwood.

Thomas dropped his opening match 6-3, 5-7, 3-6 to Chris Klaczynski of Kamiak.

In the consolation round, Thomas had to retire because of an injury and was eliminated. Coach Horace Mells said Thomas suffered a shoulder injury and it was "too painful to continue."
