The improving Coupeville girls’ soccer team came within a whisker of upsetting visiting Granite Falls Thursday.
The Tigers won 1-0 with their only goal coming when a Coupeville clearing kick was deflected into the goal just out of the reach of goalie Ashley Manker.
Earlier this year Granite Falls dumped the Wolves 6-0. Coach Mike Thornton said, “It was a great game. The girls played great; they are showing a lot of improvement.”
Next week the Wolves face both ends of the Cascade Conference standings. Tuesday they host unbeaten Archbishop Murphy at 6 p.m., then Thursday winless Sultan comes to town.
