Wildcat swimmers sit alone in 1st place

The Oak Harbor swim and dive team ripped by its third previously undefeated opponent in a row to take over sole possession of first place in the Wesco North by defeating host Jackson 102-68 Thursday.

The Wildcats collected individual wins from Laura Rosen, 200 freestyle, 2:00.38; Ciara Hu, 200 individual medley, 2:15.04; Karina Concepcion, 50 free, 27.71; Akasha Trisler, 100 backstroke, 1:03.86; and Rachel Weinstein, 100 breaststroke, 1:17.26.

Oak Harbor also grabbed two relay victories. Trisler, Weinstein, Hu, and Concepcion combined to win the 200 medley relay in 1:59.87. Concepcion, Tori Nickerson, Therese Desquitado, and Rosen took the 200 free relay in 1:51.13.

Coach Erika Miller said she knew at the beginning of the season her team has the talent to take the league title. She said, “We just had to make sure we got all the right swims on the right dates.”
