Tennis team falls to Stanwood

The Oak Harbor High School boys' tennis team was tripped up at Stanwood 6-1 Monday.

The Wildcats managed just one win, that coming in first singles. Senior Derek Thomas defeated Teague Nelson 6-3, 6-0.

Max O'Dell, in fourth singles, and the duo of Chris Holbrook and Kevin Gagen, in third doubles, where the only other Wildcats to win a set. O'Dell fell 6-4, 1-6, 5-7; and the doubles team lost 0-6, 6-3, 1-6.

In second singles, Josh Evans was defeated 3-6, 4-6. Ben Cardinal dropped the third singles match 4-6, 1-6.

Brandon Vagt and David DeGuzman lost in first doubles 1-6, 4-6; and Geoff Worley and Chase Edwards were beaten in second doubles 3-6, 2-6.

The win lifted the Spartans' record to 7-4 while the Wildcats fell to 2-10.
