It was a week of contrasts for the Coupeville soccer team.

Thursday the Wolves defeated Sultan 1-0 in a match they dominated after losing to the state’s number one ranked AA team Archbishop Murphy 11-0 earlier in the week.

In the Sultan match, Coach Mike Thornton said, “We really controlled the game, but we just couldn’t get it in the back of the net.” He estimated that Coupeville out-shot the Turks “10 or 15 to three or four.”

Caitlin Phillips scored the matches only point on an assist from Megan Smith in the 65th minute.

Smith handled the goalie duties the first half and Grace Lapoint took over the second half to share the shutout.

The Wolves are now 3-3; they host Cedarcrest Tuesday at 6.
