The Oak Harbor High School cross country teams tangled with four other schools at Lynndale Park near Meadowdale High School Thurday.

Tyler King, a junior from Coupeville running for Oak Harbor because the Wolves do not have a cross country team, won the boys’ race in 15:55. Matt Reith was fourth and John Kaltenbach 16th.

The boys finished fifth in the team standings with 74 points, just five out of second. Shorewood won with 52, and Everett had 69, Mountlake Terrace 69, and Meadowdale 72.

The Wildcat girls took second with 52 points. Shorewood won the race with 37 points, followed by Mountlake Terrace, 66; Everett, 94; and Meadowdale 109.

The top five OHHS girls all ran within 1:30 of each other, led by Allison Duvenez in fifth (20:12). She was followed by Adrianna Royal, seventh; Christina Wickers, eighth; Ariel McCarter, 13th; and Taylor Von Grey, 19th.

Saturday the Wildcats compete with 95 other teams at Seaside, Ore. Teams from at least four states and Canada will attend.
