Stanwood stops Wildcats 5-2 in tennis

Stanwood defeated the Wildcats 5-2 Monday on the Oak Harbor High School tennis courts Monday.
Oak Harbor junior Ben Cardinal won the third singles match 6-4, 7-5. Teammate junior David DeGuzman came back to win in fourth singles 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
In the day’s feature match, Teague Nelson of Stanwood slipped by junior Josh Evans in first singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. In the top doubles match, Oak Harbor juniors Brandon Vagt and Chase Edwards lost in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 1-6.
Oak Harbor is now 1-3 on the season; Stanwood is 1-2. The Wildcats go to Everett Wednesday then host Marysville-Pilchuck Friday at 3:45.
