Arlington High School’s tennis team exploited Oak Harbor’s youth in a 7-0 win in a boys’ match at Arlington Friday.
The Eagles’ 10-man team features nine seniors and a junior while Oak Harbor puts eight juniors, a sophomore, and a freshman on the courts. That experience was evident as Arlington won every set against a Wildcat them that returns just two varsity players from 2008.
The closest matches came in the top singles and doubles matches. In No. 1 singles, Oak Harbor’s Josh Evans fell 6-4(4), 3-6. In first doubles, Brandon Vagt and Chase Edwards lost 4-6, 6-3.
The win was Arlington’s first in three matches; Oak Harbor also has a 1-2 season record.
