Oak Harbor QB Lobbestael a co-starter for WSU Cougars
August 20, 2009 · Updated 1:57 PM
Former Oak Harbor High School quarterback Marshall Lobbestael has been designated a co-starting quarterback at Washington State University by football coach Paul Wulff.
Lobbestael, a sophomore at WSU, led Oak Harbor to the 2006 Class 4A state championship, will share the signal-calling duties with senior Kevin Lopena.
Injuries to two of the Cougs starting QBs last season got Lobbestael some playing time, but he also went down with a knee injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Lobbestael said he spent most of the winter and spring rehabbing his knee and he is ready to play once again, hoping to improve on last season's 2-11 record.
The Cougars open the season Saturday, Sept. 5, hosting Stanford.
