Bearcats defeat Oak Harbor on court

The Oak Harbor High School tennis team started out strong in Friday's WesCo North match at Monroe winning the first two singles matches. But the Bearcats captured the final two singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to top the Wildcats 4-3.

The victory was the first of the 2009 season for Monroe.

The Wildcats lost for the third straight time to fall to 3-5.

Jennifer Jansen went three sets in the first singles match before defeating Katie Robertson 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

In second singles, Erin Nielon was a straight set winner beating Brooke Winslow 6-4, 6-2.

Oak Harbor's first doubles team of Laurin Rico and Valerie Losers were 6-3, 6-1 winners over the Monroe duo of Kelsea Schiegel and Chora Swanson.
