The elusive first Cascade League victory slipped away once again from the Coupeville High School softball team with a 10-6 loss to Lakewood Wednesday afternoon.

Wolf coach Denny Zylstra said the team plays better each time it takes the field.

"Freshman Alexis Trumbull went the distance and did a good job pitching," Zylstra said. "We just need to get over the hump and win that first league game."

Megan Smith was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and two RBI for Coupeville, 0-6 league, 1-7 overall. Teammate Taylor Sherman socked a triple and was 1-for-3 at the plate.
