More silver salmon showing up

Kevin Petersen, Oak Harbor Ace Hardware’s fishing guru, said Wednesday afternoon that more and more silvers are showing up every day.
“Lots of anglers have been coming in the store and reporting they are having success at Ebey’s Landing and at Keystone on Admiralty Bay,” he said.
Bait-wise, anglers are catching fish using pink Buzz Bombs, Crocodiles and herring.
“What you want to do at Ebey’s Landing is make sure to cast your lure just short of the kelp and let it drift,” Petersen said. “With small herring for bait, what people have been doing is using a four- to-five-foot leader below a bobber and again casting just shy of the kelp.”
Petersen said Brush Point and Admiral’s Cove have also been producing some fish, but the odds are better at Ebey’s Landing and Keystone.
The best time to try your luck is just before high tide.
