Phay finishes 3rd in Rosauer's Open

Whidbey Golf Club professional David Phay placed third in the Rosauers Open Invitational at the MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake July 18-20.

The three-day Rosauers Open is one of the top events of the Pacific Northwest Section of the Professional Golfers Association.

Phay, who won the tournament in 2012, was tied for the lead after the first round Friday when he carded a 65. He still shared the top spot over 77 other golfers Saturday after shooting a 70.

Tim Feenstra of the Broadmoor Golf Club blitzed the field Sunday with a 61, the best single round in the tournament by four strokes, to finish with a 200. Drew McCullough of Meadow Springs Golf Course placed second with a 202.

Phay shot a solid 69 Sunday to finish in a four-way tie for third with a 204.
