After a win in the first round, the North Whidbey Senior (15/16) Little League team suffered a 12-1 loss to Lewis River (Woodland) in the quarterfinals Sunday, July 13, at Shoreline's Meridian Park.

North Whidbey takes on Marysville in a loser-out game at 4 p.m. Monday, July 14. Maryseville fell to Richmond 3-2 and thumped South Kitsap East 13-0 earlier in the tournament.

With the bottom order doing most of the damage, Lewis River got rolling with six runs with two outs in the second inning.

North Whidbey's Brandon Philp and Brandon Figarelle hit the ball sharply in the bottom of second, but Oak Harbor failed to score.

An error in the outfield with the bases loaded allowed Lewis River to score four runs with two outs in the third.

North Whidbey had a chance to cut into the 10-0 Lewis River lead in the bottom of the third when the first two hitters reached base. Both, however, were cut down on the bases to stop the rally.

Lewis River struck for two more two-out runs in the fourth to finish its scoring.

In the North Whidbey fourth, Philp walked and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
