North, Central Whidbey to square off | 11/12 baseball

The North Whidbey 11/12 Little League baseball team picked up its second win in the District 11 tournament in Langley Tuesday, July 1, defeating Sedro-Woolley 6-3 and collecting a little revenge along the way.

Sedro-Woolley beat North Whidbey 10-4 Saturday in the tournament opener, but North Whidbey ousted the Skagit team from the playoffs with it latest win.

North Whidbey meets Central Whidbey at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a loser-out game. Central lost to Burlington 28-0 Tuesday.

The North-Central winner will get a crack at Burlington in the championship series and will have to defeat Burlington twice to capture the district pennant. The first game is 6 p.m. Thursday; the second, if necessary, is 3 p.m. Friday.

North Whidbey used five pitchers (Aiden McCarthy, Nick Krantz, Cody Byars, Austin Boesch and Logan Gonzales) to stop Sedro-Woolley. McCarthy collected four strikeouts, and Gonzales finished the game with a K.

McCarthy  led the offense with a double and single. Noah Miller and Byars slugged doubles; Jeremiah Dailey, George Dailey, David Sisson, Will Ray and Boesch singled.

Defensively, George Dailey and Gonzales set the tone with an early double play.
