McCardle advances toward U.S. Open

Oak Harbor High School graduate Eric McCardle shared medalist honors in a United States Golf Association qualifier for the U.S. Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas Monday, May 12.

The win moved McCardle one step closer to qualifying for the U.S. Open, which will be played June 12-15 at Pinehurst 2 in North Carolina.

McCardle earned one of the eight qualifying spots for the sectional tournament, a one-day, 36-hole event in San Francisco Monday, June 2.

McCardle, who now lives in Las Vegas, shot a one-under 70 at TPC Summerlin in spite of high winds and firm greens to top the field of 154.
