Wildcats can't match late Scot rally | Softball

Shorecrest scored nine runs over the final three innings to defeat the host Oak Harbor High School softball team 12-7 Monday, May 12.

Each time the Scots scored, Oak Harbor responded with runs of its own, but the Wildcats couldn't overcome the final Shorecrest surge.

The Scots scored a run in the second, and Oak Harbor matched it in the bottom half of the inning. Shorecrest added two runs in the third and the Wildcats pushed across one.

Shorecrest exploded for four runs in the fifth and Oak Harbor countered with three and trailed by only two, 7-5, heading into the seventh.

When the Scots (2-10, 4-15) scored five in the top of the final inning, Oak Harbor could get back only two in its turn.

The Wildcats pounded 11 hits, including four for extra bases.

Sydney White ripped two doubles and drove in two runs. Tricia Sarns and Alexa Findley tripled.

Oak Harbor (1-9, 2-15) hosts Stanwood (5-6, 6-12) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 13.
