Wildcats finish 2nd in Wesco match | Boys golf

Sloshing through heavy rain, the Oak Harbor High School boys golf team placed second in a five-team Wesco North meet at the Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville Thursday, May 8.

The Wildcats finished behind Marysville Getchell in a match earlier in the week but jumped over the Chargers to finish second to Stanwood Thursday.

Stanwood won with 403 strokes, followed by Oak Harbor (416), Getchell (423), Everett (460) and Marysville-Pilchuck (530).

Stanwood's Halen Davis earned medalist honors with a two-over 72.

Oak Harbor's Mac Kerfoot led after the first nine with a 36, one stroke better than Davis, then shot a 44 on the back nine to finish in a fourth-place tie with teammate Hunter Adams at 80.

Raiden Poe shot 83, Aaron Kelley 86, Mason Dieter 88 and Steven Timm 90.

"The guys did great in some really bad weather," coach David Smith said.

Next up are the Western Conference Championships at Kayak Point Golf Course in Stanwood at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12.
