Leete, Kamiak win opening tournament | Girls golf

Oak Harbor's Joanna Leete earned medalist honors and Kamiak took the team title in the girls golf Oak Harbor Shootout at Whidbey Golf Club Tuesday, March 18.

Leete, who shot an 83, beat the field of 49 by 10 strokes, but Kamiak placed three golfers among the top six to easily win the 10-team tournament with 493 strokes, 40 better than second-place Lake Stevens.

Oak Harbor, which was missing two of its regular varsity golfers, finished sixth at 592.

Bree Roderos followed Leete for Oak Harbor with a 101. KC Winfield shot 119, Hailey Beecher 122 and Mara Powers 167.

Oak Harbor hosts Marysville Getchell and Shorewood at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 20.
