Wildcats lose to No. 1 Suns at state | Volleyball

Top-ranked Southridge moved one step closer to the state volleyball title by rolling by Oak Harbor 3-0 in the quarterfinals Friday, Nov. 15, at Saint Martin's University in Lacey.

The Suns from Kennewick won 25-12, 25-14, 25-16.

The Wildcats (8-12) had won five of their last six contests but were no match for  28-1 Southridge, who reached the state semifinals last fall.

Oak Harbor, behind six kills by Kayleigh Harper, hung in early and trailed only 14-12 in the first set before the Suns went on an 11-0 run to win the game and cruise to the three-set win.

The Wildcats face third-ranked Shadle Park of Spokane in a loser-out match at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.

Harper finished with 12 kills against Southridge, Claire Anderson recorded 13 digs and Hailey Beecher had 24 assists.
