Getting all it could handle, the second-place Archbishop Murphy volleyball team escaped from Coupeville with a 3-2 win Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The Wildcats (9-3, 10-3) were pushed to five games by the Wolves (1-11, 2-11), winning 22-25, 25-14, 19-25, 25-16, 15-10.

Coupeville coach Kirsty Croghan said, "Fun game for the girls. The team is realizing that they can compete and win against these tougher teams in our league."

The Wolves showed no fear early when they fell behind 8-4 in the first game. Behind the big hitting of Hailey Hammer, Coupeville stormed back to get the win and put the Wildcats on notice.

Hammer finished with a strong stat sheet, ripping 13 kills and five aces to go along with two blocks and completing 13 of 18 defensive chances.

Bree Messner had one ace while hitting 14 of 15 serves, was a perfect 22-for-22 in serve receive and went 15-for-23 on defensive chances.

Allie Hanigan collected five kills and two blocks, and Amanda Fabrizi was 15-for-18 in serve receive and 26-for-35 on defensive chances.

Sydney Autio powered eight aces on 22 of 24 serves and dished 20 assists.

Sydney Aparicio was 11-for-11 in serve receive.

The Wolves travel to Granite Falls (2-10, 2-10) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, and finish the regular season at home at 7.p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, with first-place King's (12-0, 12-0).
