Spartans ease by Wildcats | Volleyball

Same song, different verse for the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team as it lost another close match, this time 3-1 at Stanwood Thursday, Oct. 17.

The Spartans (4-2, 8-3) slipped by 25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Wildcat coach Kerri Molitor said, "We played a little better last night, but unfortunately, lost.  Stanwood was tough -- very scrappy and good ball control.  We played with a lot of heart, which is what we’ve been trying to improve on."

Oak Harbor's Kayleigh Harper had a match-high 19 kills, seven blocks and two aces. Makenna Martyn posted nine kills and Claire Anderson had eight.

Amelia Berner finished with six kills and three aces, AnnaBelle Whitefoot had five kills and Aubrey Lock collected 21 digs.

Natalie McVey added 36 assists and 11 digs.

The Wildcats (2-4, 2-9) return home 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, to meet Everett (3-2, 8-3).
