Though it is making positive strides, the Coupeville High School volleyball is still looking for its first Cascade Conference win after dropping a 3-0 match to visiting Granite Falls Thursday, Oct. 10.

Wolves coach Kirsty Croghan said, “The kids played well tonight; they should be proud of themselves. Many people said it was the best they have seen them play.”

Coupeville fell behind 7-2 in the first game, then rallied behind Hailey Hammer's four kills. The Wolves knotted the score at 8 and it was close the rest of the way.

Coupeville held game point at 24-23, but the Tigers rallied to win 27-25.

The Tigers (2-7) finished the match with 25-16 and 25-19 wins.

Hammer ended the night with nine kills and three aces on 14-of-15 serving.

Other offensive highlights were four kills from Kacie Kiel and 12 assists by Sydney Autio. Bree Messner hit 10-of-11 serves, including one ace. Haley Sherman connected on all seven serves.

Defensively, Sherman had four blocks, and Kiel and Allie Hanigan had two each.

Messner was 28-for-28 on serve receive and 17-for-19 on defensive chances, and Amanda Fabrizi was 17-for-21 on serve receive and 27-for-31 defensively.

Coupeville (0-9, 1-9) welcomes South Whidbey (6-3, 7-3) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.
