The North Whidbey Aquatic Club Aquajets placed third of nine teams with 636 points in the 30th Annual Spring Thunderbird Invitational Swim Meet last weekend in Anacortes. The meet was won by Cascade Swim Club of Seattle with 1238 points with West Coast Aquatics of Mill Creek taking second with 1086 points.

NWAC was led by four high-point award winners: Laura Rosen (girls 9-10), Cole Weinstein (boys 9-10), Ciara Hu (girls 11) and John Hu (boys 13-14). Other Aquajets winning individual events included Jacob Jepsen, Josh Jepsen, Monica Olloren and Evan Wilson.

The 11-year-old girls relay team of Olloren, Karina Concepcion, Ciara Hu, and Dianne Hossfeld won the 200-meter medley and 200-meter freestyle relays. The boys 9-10 200-meter medley team of Cole Weinstein, John Rodeheffer, Nick Streubel and Josh Jepsen was also victorious.

NWAC swimmers set 24 new qualifying times for July’s Pacific Northwest Swimming Championships in Federal Way. Ciara Hu, Price Hu, and Devin Schell each notched three qualifying swims; John Hu, John Rodeheffer, Tyler Schell, Amanda Streubel, Nick Streubel, and Cole Weinstein had two each; and Josh Jepsen and Kerianne Wright each added one.

The Aquajets will compete next in the Wine Country Invitational Swim Meet in Wapato, June 16-18.
