CHS boys win third straight
July 3, 2008 · Updated 7:21 PM
A balanced attack led to the third straight victory for the the Coupeville boys soccer team Saturday afternoon.
Four different players scored in a 5-0 non-league home victory over North Sound Christian.
We did well, head coach Melissa Martenak said. We moved the ball around well as a team and as you can see by the scoring, there is no one superstar, but rather a team effort.
Senior midfielder Greg Motett led the Wolves with two goals, while seniors Jon Chittim and Micah Einterz and freshman Geoff Wacker each scored one apiece.
Martenak feels that if the Wolves can keep up their current effort, they are right on track to reach this seasons objective.
We need to continue this philosophy of play so that we can obtain our ultimate goal a slot in the state tournament, she said.
With the win Coupeville has now won three straight improving to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the Northwest A/B. Saturdays win was also the second consecutive shutout for the Wolves, who have outscored opponents 11-1 in their three-game streak.
CHS hosted non-league Lopez Island yesterday afternoon and travels to Orcas Island, tomorrow, Sept. 22 for their second league game. Its the start of four straight road games as they dont host another home game until Thursday, Oct. 6 against Friday Harbor.
