Cats end season on high note

The Oak Harbor swim team couldn’t have asked for a better finish to its regular season.

The Wildcats (5-2, 6-5) defeated Marysville-Pilchuck 92-76 on Thursday for their sixth consecutive team victory. Prior to their winning streak, the Wildcats had lost five in a row.

Senior Missy McIntyre paved the way in the final meet, claiming the 200 individual medley (2:25.26) and 100 free (1:01.64) with state qualifying times.

Sophomores Kyrie Russell and Julia Marriott also had impressive performances. Russell took the 50 free (30.29) and 100 butterfly (1:09.59), while Marriott won the 200 free (2:27.30) and 100 back (1:13.43).

Aelara Cordary was the other individual first place finisher for Oak Harbor, winning the 500 free (7:19.92).

The 200 free team of Marriott, Lillian Brunner, Russell and McIntyre were victorious along with the 400 free relay of Russell, Marriott, Stacy Kallander and McIntyre.

Oak Harbor gathered its fifth win in a row on Tuesday, beating Everett, 90-80.

The Wildcats takes a week off before the WesCo 4A district meet, Thursday, Oct. 28 at Hal Moe Pool in Snohomish.
