Netters take two

Oak Harbor’s tennis team won its third match of the season last Wednesday by outscoring Monroe 5-2 on the Wildcat courts.

Oak Harbor’s top three singles players all recorded victories. Daniel Hinkley won 6-1, 6-0; Scott Donnell 6-1, 7-6 (0), and D.J. Dalire 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles action, the Wildcat team of Shane McClure and Carlo Gailo won 6-1, 6-0, and the second doubles duo of Justin Peattie and Dan Van Dyke won 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Fourth and fifth singes were played as extra matches. Chalking up wins were Oak Harbor’s Chad Evans and Ronald Juance, and Dustin Deasy-Larson and Michael Amersbach.

On Oct. 23 Oak Harbor traveled to Mount Vernon and claimed an easy 6-1 victory. In singles, Hinkley won 6-1, 3-6, 6-4; Donnell 6-0, 6-2; and Dalire 6-0, 6-1.

In first doubles at Mount Vernon, Shane McClure and Gailo won 6-4, 6-2; Peattie and Van Dyke won 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (5) at second doubles; and at third Hinkley and Dalire won 6-3, 7-6 (4). Winning extra matches were the teams of Evans and Juance and Deason-Larson and Amersbach.

The Wildcats hosted Cascade Sept. 20 and lost 4-3. Oak Harbor’s top three singles players each won, but Cascade swept the other contests. Hinkley won 6-3, 6-1, Donnell 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, and Dalire 6-0, 6-1.
