Cheer team needs help

Although the Oak Harbor All-Stars cheer squad has qualified for Nationals, the team is unsure if it will be able to participate. The squad might not be able to travel to Florida for the tournament due to the expenses involved. The All-Stars have been incorporated as a non-profit organization, but have only been recently able to raise enough money to pay for uniforms and warm-ups.

The team is currently asking for additional sponsors and donors to help raise an estimated $12,000 to help make the trip to Florida a reality. The squad must put a deposit of $2,300 down by Jan. 8 for the event, and is trying to decide it it will be able to raise the rest of the money to make the trip possible.

The squad has already received several donations from local businesses, including Island Thrift, which made a substantial donation allowing the team to purchase the new uniforms.

If you are interested in making a donation to and/or sponsoring the team you can call Caryl Farley (679-2253) or Wendy Marsh (679-4728).
