Indoor tennis anyone?

"Tennis anyone? The northern division of the Whidbey Island Tennis Association will mail out more than 20,000 surveys July 17 to houses from Coupeville to Deception Pass. The WITA wants to know if there is enough interest and financial support to build an indoor tennis court on Whidbey Island.Other divisions of WITA, which began operation May 4 of this year, exist in Coupeville and Clinton. The purpose of the association is to pull tennis players together for more organized play, develop tournaments and programs, and eventually provide an indoor facility. The group works in support of and in conjunction with other established organizations such as the United States Tennis Association, Canadian Tennis Association, Parks and Recreation, school programs and industry-sponsored programs.WITA members play adult tennis at 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays at Oak Harbor High School, and Horace Mells has been teaching tennis lessons this summer. The association is hosting a tournament at the high school on July 29-30. For more information contact Fred Henninger at 675-5409."
