"Lindsey Jackson had some shots that landed in bunkers and a few in the rough but overall it was a good afternoon for the Oak Harbor senior. Jackson captured medalist honors Monday when the Wildcats hosted a 4-A Western Conference match at Whidbey Golf & Country Club.Technically, Jackson was a double medalist as Oak Harbor played simultaneous matches against Shorewood and Cascade. The Wildcats won both, beating Shorewood 126-48 and Cascade 186-97.Jackson had 32 points to lead Oak Harbor past Shorewood, and 45 points against Cascade. She had a good round, Oak Harbor coach John Matzen said. She was 7 over par for 13 holes. That's pretty good playing.Competition was originally scheduled for 13 holes. However, Shorewood wanted to play just nine holes. After Shorewood finished, Oak Harbor and Cascade played four extra holes.Senior Sarah Matzen and Kate Waller each had 40 points in the match with Cascade. Matzen had 28 points, and Waller 27 against Shorewood.Sarah had her best outing of the year, Matzen said. And Kate had another good day. She has been playing very steady.Tiffany Gordon also had a strong round with 36 points against Cascade, and 22 against Shorewood.Oak Harbor, 9-0 in league play, returns to Whidbey today for a conference match with Edmonds-Woodway and Mountlake Terrace. The match was originally scheduled for Mountlake Terrace's home course. However, that course is currently undergoing construction, so today's match was moved to Whidbey. After today's match, the Wildcats begin preparing for next week's district tournament. Matzen likes the way the team is jelling. We have a lot of girls peaking at the right time. They are getting ready for next week's district tournament, Matzen said. The first round of the district tournament will be held next Wednesday at the Gallery Golf Course."
