"There are style points, and there are scoreboard points. Bottom line: The Wildcats got more of the latter. It wasnt exactly pretty, but the Oak Harbor girls basketball team blew past the short-handed Ingraham Lady Rams on Monday, 67-28.Molly Bull and Marcy Manibusan led a balanced Wildcat scoring attack, with 10 points each. Teammates Sarah Matzen, Constance Burnette and Sara Jackets each scored eight points. But Oak Harbor appeared rusty on its home court, especially in the first half, when the Cats were just 4-for-15 from the foul line and 10-for-33 shooting from the field.Despite that, Oak Harbor built a 25-10 lead over Ingraham, which had only eight team members for the trip and started three junior varsity players.Matzen scored six points in the first half, and the Wildcats forced the Rams into a whopping 21 first-half turnovers.Ingraham trailed 13-3 after one quarter and didnt make a basket until nearly two minutes into the second quarter. The Wildcats appeared to crank up their intensity level in the third quarter, when Oak Harbor scored an impressive 28 points in the eight-minute span. Bull scored three straight baskets and Manibusan hit two 3-pointers.We played more together, Bull said of the second-half effort. In the second half we stepped it up.Several Oak Harbor players came off the bench to spark the Wildcats. Jackets scored all of her points in the second half; Nicole White contributed a basket and strong inside play; Patricia Tokerak handled the ball well at point guard; and Jamie Armstrong scored all of her six points in the second half, too.The Wildcats were 7-for-11 from the foul line in the second half, and 16-for-39 from the field. The win boosts Oak Harbors season record to 5-2. The Wildcats already have won more games than they did all of last year.Oak Harbors next game is next Wednesday at home against Shorewood.OAK HARBOR 67, INGRAHAM 28Ingraham 3 7 13 5 28Oak Harbor 13 12 28 14 67Ingraham: Pugh 4, Sims 9, Haslam 7, Abelardo 6, Charles 2.
