Wildcat wrestlers deliver mat clinic

"Brent Lang won a 9-1 decision, and felt like he’d missed out on a party. The Oak Harbor wrestling team dominated a young Shorewood squad 79-0 in a dual meet at Oak Harbor Thursday. The Wildcats pinned their first five opponents, and won the other four opening matches by forfeit or default.Lang was one of the few Oak Harbor wrestlers not to earn six points, the total for a pin.“I was thinking I was gonna go out there and pin the guy like everybody else, but it didn’t happen,” Lang said of his match against Shorewood 189 pounder Clark Norton. “He was squirmy.”Wildcats who pinned their Shorewood opponent included Kevin Lang, Nate Lemme, Danny Wichers, Matt Pasquier, Jacob Horn, Brandon Bonson and Sean Hogan.Oak Harbor’s Mike Dolson failed to join the pin party, too, though he did win a 26-11 technical fall in dominating Blair Shoemaker at 160 pounds.Dolson said he just didn’t have enough energy to put Shoemaker away. “I was a little gassed,” he said.As a coach who is always looking for top efforts from his wrestlers, Brian Farmer didn’t have much to complain about after the meet. But the Oak Harbor coach said there’s still a lot of room for the Wildcats to improve.“As a team, we’re on a mission,” he said. “We’re not there yet.”Friday meetOAK HARBOR 79, SHOREWOOD 0 103: K.
