"Bring on the Vikings. Coupeville built a 22-8 first half lead and cruised to a 49-22 win over Charles Wright of Tacoma on Friday on the Wolves' home field. Next up are the Orcas Vikings, who made it to the B state title game last year. The Saturday game, at Orcas, will be Coupeville’s first league battle in the new Northwest A League.Rich Wilson, stepping in as the starting tailback against Charles Wright now that Ian Barron is out for the season with a broken ankle, gained 141 yards on 18 carries. Junior quarterback Noah Roehl threw for another 172 yards and three touchdowns on 9-for-21 passing. On defense, Jason Joyner and Tony Marti combined for 29 tackles for the Wolves.Everybody just stepped up, Coupeville coach Ron Bagby said. Wilson said the win was a group effort, the kind Coupeville will need if it’s going to defeat Orcas.“It was a great team win,” he said of the Charles Wright game. “We finally pulled together and played like a team.”Senior lineman Tariq Omar expects a similar result against the Vikings.“There’s still a lot of potential on this team that hasn’t even been realized yet,” he said."
