Leete grabs 9th at state tournament | Golf

Oak Harbor High School's Annie Leete, behind a strong first round, secured a top-10 finish at the 3A girls state golf tournament at the Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 and 22.

The Wildcat junior struggled some the second day in a steady downpour but still finished ninth among the 80 girls in the field.

Teammate Bree Roderos shot a 100 in the first round, failing to make the cut, and finished in 52nd.

Mac Kerfoot of the Oak Harbor's boys team was 46th out of 80 at Ridgefield's Tri-Mountain Golf course. He shot an 83 and missed the cut by two strokes.

Leete was in sixth after a day-one score of 79. In the second round played in nasty weather, she posted a 91 for a total of 170.

Chloe Bartek of Columbia River won with a 143 (70-73).

Last year Leete shot a 167 (84-83) and finished 23rd.
