Coupeville siblings place at state | Golf

Coupeville High School's Christine Fields finished 15th and brother Austin 29th in the 1A state golf tournaments at Lake Spanaway Golf Course Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 and 22.

Christine Fields, a sophomore, was in 11th after a first-round 88, then carded a 98 on day two for a 186, good for 15th. She placed eighth last spring.

Bree Wanderscheid of Goldendade won the 40-girl tournament with a 145 (74-71).

Austin Fields, a senior, sat in 39th after a day-one 85, then jumped 10 golfers in the second round with an 83 and a final score of 168.

This was Austin's third trip to state. He placed 37th and 36th the past two seasons.

Ilwaco's Ross Kukula led the field of 80 with a 139 (71-68).
