Fields siblings snare return trips to state | Golf

Coupeville High School senior Austin Fields qualified for his third state golf tournament and sophomore sister Christine her second through their efforts at the tri-district meet at Bremerton's Gold Mountain courses Tuesday, May 14.

Austin carded an 86, good for 20th. Blaine's Ryan Wallen and King's Jack Ryan O'Neil led with 73s. The top 33 earned state berths.

Christine shot 85, placing sixth. Life Christian's Madisen Bentley shot a tournament-best 75. The leading 17 girls picked up state slots.

Austin placed 37th and 36th in his past two trips to state. Christine finished eighth as a freshman last spring.

The state 1A tournament is Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 and 22, at Lake Spanaway Golf Course.
