Getchell edges 'Cats | Tennis

Marysville Getchell skipped over visiting Oak Harbor in the Wesco 3A North tennis standings with a 4-3 win Wednesday, April 24.

The Chargers (3-7, 4-9) moved into third and Oak Harbor (2-8, 3-10) dropped into a fourth-place tie with Marysville-Pilchuck.

Oak Harbor grabbed its wins from No. 4 singles Brittany Rigby, 6-0, 6-0; first doubles Chelsea Admire and Jamie Estrella, 6-4, 6-1; and second doubles Zena Husler and Alyssa Eden, 6-4, 6-4.

The swing match came in third doubles where the Chargers eked out a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 win over Mollie Briddell and Caterina Amsler.

Oak Harbor dropped the top three singles matches: 1, Makenzie Perry lost 6-2, 6-1; 2, Kyla McKinney lost 6-3, 6-0; 3, Faith Franssen lost 6-2, 6-1.

Oak Harbor goes to first-place Stanwood (8-1, 11-1) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25.
